iZombie Postmortem: Episode 13

iZombie Ep. 13: Blaine’s World This episode should’ve been called “Dirty Major”. It was an exciting and fiery season finale, that’s for sure! I wasn’t a huge fan of Major at the beginning, but I’ve come around(for the most part). I understand why he’s mad at Liv after all of the lies and all that he’s been through, but I’d think, given time, he’d see why she made the choices she made. I was kind of hoping he’d remain a zombie for season 2, just because he’s been such a zombie-hater, but I suppose that’s not his role in the story. This finale will have a lot of meaningful impact on the future […]

iZombie Postmortem: Episode 12

iZombie Ep. 12: Dead Rat, Live Rat, Brown Rat, White Rat This is it! One more episode to go! Very sad…they need to double up on the number of episodes for next season. I think there’s a lot of story to explore with Liv’s friends/family, possible love interests, and the whole zombie saga. I cringed when Clive grabbed that slice! I loved the mushroom comment, after he took a bite. I knew there was a good reason for my dislike of those fungi! The full on zombie fight at the end was epic. Liv fighting with one hand impaled was a nice touch! I liked how the writers handled the part where Peyton walks in […]

iZombie Postmortem: Episode 11

iZombie Ep. 11: Astroburger I swear the Hellfire Cheezy Puff devil-guy is still stuck in my head after that episode! He reminds me a little of Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass. This was one of the best episodes this season. Liv seemed oddly comfortable around Blaine, considering all that he’s done. I know she was considering poisoning him, but you’d think she’d look more freaked out about his presence as Dr. Ravi obviously was. I feel like those two will be dating before long; maybe by episode 2 of next season. 5/5 brains! Do yourself a favor and listen to the iZombie podcast for great show commentary and special guest interviews! As promised, I’m doubling up […]

iZombie Postmortem: Episode 10

iZombie Ep. 10: Mr. Berserk Drunk Liv is the best! This was a fun, yet serious episode. The fun part being the slightly slurring, staggering zombie-girl, the serious part being Liv almost getting killed on that boat, admitting to Dr. Ravi that she’s the reason Lowell got killed, and then condemning the “love of her life” AKA Major to the psych ward! They teased a big confrontation with Blaine at the lab for the next episode. Things are getting really intense for the final 3 episodes! I’m starting to get bored with my own words for these postmortems. I love the show, but I think I should just shut the heck up for […]

iZombie Postmortem: Episode 9

iZombie Ep. 9: Patriot Brains I like that there’s more of a focus on the zombie story-line in recent episodes. Very big developments happen by the end of episode 9. That’s the problem I have with procedural shows sometimes, character/story progression gets stuck and becomes too predictable. Thankfully, that’s not the case with iZombie. The paintball battle setting for this episode’s crime scene was a nice, little homage to the original comics. I guess that Dr. Ravi is OK after getting bit/scratched by the zombie rat, or is he? Maybe, that will be a slower developing version of the zombie strain?? I kind of hope not; I’m not too keen on the idea […]

iZombie Postmortem: Episode 8

So, iZombie got picked up for a second season! WOO-HOO !! The great creative team behind the show; the writers, actors, directors, key grips, etc. and the strong word of mouth really helped make this show a hit. Good job! iZombie Ep. 8: Dead Air I wondered if the “shock-jock” radio guy in this episode was loosely based off Tom Leykis or The Nasty-Man. This episode was all about character hook-ups and break-ups. I had mixed feelings about Liv hooking up with Zombie Lowell. Not a big fan of that guy, for some reason, but I guess that sexual zombies are more fun than sad repressed zombies. It was nice […]

iZombie Postmortem: Episode 7

iZombie Ep. 7: Maternity Liv I resisted the police procedural aspect of iZombie initially, but it didn’t bother me at all this episode, so either I’m just getting more attuned to the show or, perhaps, they’re just doing a better job of blending the personal story/zombie threads with the case of the week stuff. So, half of this episode was Liv fixing all the male character’s hair, since she picked up maternal instincts from this episode’s murder victim. Rose McIver’s performance, channeling all of these different brains, kind of reminds me of what actress Tatiana Maslany is doing(except, with clones) on another show I like, Orphan Black. What is my point? I don’t know; […]

iZombie Postmortem: Episode 6

iZombie Ep. 6: Virtual Reality Bites As a long time MMORPG player, I have to say I especially loved this episode! Seeing Liv in full ogre-slaying-raid-mode ala World of Warcraft, while she stuffed her face with Cheetos, and ignored her concerned mother was freakin’ hilarious! I laughed out loud when she told her Mom that she was conducting official police business, as she screamed out directions to her raid-mates on how to subdue a gaggle of oncoming orcs! I really don’t trust that new zombie love interest, Lowell. It seems like he’s playing Liv to me; he always says the perfect thing to her, in his creepy way. Maybe, if I was […]

iZombie Postmortem: Episode 5

iZombie Ep. 5: Flight of the Living Dead My favorite quote this week is kind of a slam dunk. A “CSI guy” approaches Liv & Clive at the crime scene in the woods and says,“…and I thought my inner thighs were white!” Liv reponds,“What!?” “Uhh…nothing.” I also liked when Liv snapped at Dr. Ravi and threatened to eat him; which sounds oddly tempting coming from her lips. Liv meets another zombie and new crush, Lowell, in this episode. His love speech at the end made me dry heave a bit, but it’s nice to see some competition for “Mr. Perfect” Lilywhite. We also get a big treat in a guest appearance by […]
