My Convention Sketchbook 2003-2013 #78: Gabrielle Bell

I first read Gabrielle Bell’s comics in Drawn & Quarterly Showcase #4. Her story about a young woman hired to give private art lessons to a famous sculptor’s son pulls you into it’s character driven story, and it reads like a lost short film from New York Stories. Her latest graphic novel, Truth is Fragmentary: Travelogues & Diaries, chronicles her travels to France, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Colombia, and back to Brooklyn. Generously, Gabrielle posts current diary cartoons regularly on her Lucky blog.
