My Convention Sketchbook 2003-2013 #83: Frank Stack

Looking at this sketch by the infamous underground cartoonist Frank Stack(The Adventures of Jesus), I’m remembering how he sort of muttered what he was thinking as he drew this. Something about a “Mary Rogers” playing the legendary female pirate Anne Bonny, and I’m pretty sure that’s him sitting in the corner. The Mary Rogers he was referring to could be the “beautiful cigar girl” of the early 1800’s who inspired a Poe detective story, or maybe Will Roger’s actress daughter Mary Brooks Rogers..? I don’t know, but it was very entertaining to watch him illustrate his worst nightmare/ultimate fantasy in my sketchbook. Thanks, Frank!
